How do Tarot readings work?

Tarot cards are a tool that is used to help us communicate with the spirit world. These cards are not magical or even special on their own. The tarot cards only serve as a tool and it is the person using them that has the psychic power to interpret what the cards mean in a reading.

In order to understand exactly how tarot cards work you need to understand a little about the spirit realm. Spirits communicate in a non-verbal way, through thoughts. They are not bound by time since time does not exist in the spirit realm as it does here. Sometimes it is difficult for a spirit to communicate their message clearly through thought alone. This is where tarot cards come in.

When you get a tarot reading the spirit communicates through the psychic reader who is able to pick up the thoughts of the spirit. In order to make communication easier the reader uses the tarot cards. The spirit directs which cards are laid in order to communicate their message clearly.

Tarot cards are similar to a pack of playing cards. The tarot deck consists of 76 cards. There are four suits - pentacles, cups, swords and wands- which collectively is called the minor arcana. There is also a group of cards called the major arcana.

The minor arcana has 15 cards in each suit for a total of 52 cards. The cards range from the ace through the number ten and then each suit has a page, knight, queen and king. The minor arcana cards represent everyday happenings and events. They are considered to be the things in your life for which you have control over. When you receive a minor arcana card in a reading it means it is something that you can change.

The major arcana consists of 22 cards. These cards each feature a main theme. The major arcana cards are said to represent life lessons. These are things that you must learn and are written as part of your destiny. You cannot change these things. It is important to pay attention to any major arcana card that comes up in your reading.

The basic idea of a tarot reading is that it is meant to be a guide for you. You are to take what you learn in a tarot reading and use that to help you make decisions about what to do. The tarot cannot tell you what definitely will happen in your future. This is because things are in a state of constant change. Every day you make decisions that will change how things will happen in the future. You have freewill, which means that you can make decisions and make changes in your life as you see fit. The future is not written in stone, so the tarot helps you to see what you can do to change it if you do not like what is set to happen.
