| People have been
seeking assistance through psychic readings for all eternity.
Religious practice played a big part in the original use of
divination to discover important messages. In the early days
of civilization, visionary readings might have been given
by the priest, shaman or other spiritual leaders or healers.
As societies changed, “signs” would have been
read for individual people other than the King or tribal leader
and the focus would gradually change from looking at the fate
of the nation to considering the pathway for an individual
person. The point at which a one- to-one psychic reading,
as we know it, became the accepted format is not easy to pin
down.
However, developments in a variety of broadly spiritual areas,
including Spiritualism, Paganism and Star Gazing may have
contributed to the structure and practice of what we now consider
to be psychic readings. The word “psychic” is
often understood to indicate mental telepathy, where someone
seems to magically pick up information about other people
or situations. The word is linked to a Greek word that means
“of the soul”, therefore it refers to soul to
soul communication. The psychic reader
may use a number of tools to assist with opening the psychic
channels, including Tarot cards, birth data and charts, coloured
crystals and ribbons and a person’s names.
