Solstice History
Ancient cultures saw the summer solstice as significant and as such they celebrated accordingly. Fire was used in many ways to signify the power of the sun; nature and crops also played a large part in the festivities with thanks given for abundance and prayers said for the future, love rituals were also common, with dances signifying strength and courage that were also thought to attract a mate
Festivities Now
For many people the summer solstice still holds significant meaning, and as such they may travel to ancient and religious sites such as Stonehenge to take part in celebrations that focus on Mother Earth, nature, the sun and new beginnings.
Even if you do not go to a special event, it is still a great time to take stock of life, reflect on your spiritual side and see how you want to move forward.
