Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy

Have you been an avid fan of Grey’s Anatomy since the beginning? If so, you will be delighted to know that season 17 is coming to Sky Witness in 2021. In fact, American audiences have already started watching the new season on abc, which started with a crossover 2-hour episode with Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19, on the 12th November 2020.

If you don’t like show spoilers – then don’t read any further!!!

Storylines

No long-running show goes without its criticisms, whether their favourite character has got killed off, or the storylines are just not as dynamic as before. The covid pandemic did impact filming, shortening season 16 by four episodes. It looks like the show will demonstrate the impact that such a pandemic has in a hospital setting. The real PPE that the show had available was donated to hospitals who were desperate for it at the beginning of the virus situation, and PPE used in season 17 was costume – not real, to not take away stocks from the ongoing crisis.

However, the pandemic is not the only storyline gathering interest. Much of the shows early success was down to the Meredith and Derek love-story, which abruptly ended when Derek died in season 11. As you can see from our cover picture, Derek (aka – McDreamy), has a story arc in season 17 where he appears in a number of Meredith’s visions/dreams. According to stories circulating Derek may not be the only character she brings back to life!

Grey’s Anatomy Cast

Of course Ellen Pompeo is returning as Meredith Grey, but other season regulars are also set to return: Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti), Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr), Teddy Altman (Kim Raver), Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington), and Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) all return. Anthony Hill and Richard Flood also appear now as ‘series regulars’ as Winston Ndugu and Cormac Hayes. A new person joins who you might recognise from Charmed (Mackenzie Marsh), who plays Val Ashton.

What to expect

Showrunners have suggested that the pandemic will feature heavily, as it was impacting so many lives around the globe. You can expect laugh out loud funny moments, long-distance love stories, the enhanced use of tech, romance, heart-ache and more…

Release Date

As I write this Sky Witness have not released a UK airing date, but spring 21 is a good guess. If you can’t wait until then, check out the trailers available:
