Spiritual Self Care

Self Care

We are often bombarded with information regarding our personal physical care alongside mental health these days. Although these two elements in our lives are massively important, it is often easy to overlook (or not have time for) spiritual self care.

Let’s break this down before we take a deeper look at spiritual self care.

Physical Health

Physical health speaks for itself. Looking after our bodies on a daily basis is essential. Moving, exercising, checking-in with how our bodies feel and listening to any aches and pains helps us look after the only body we will ever get in this lifetime!

Mental Health

Mental health is equally important. Just because we cannot see our minds like we can our physical bodies does not mean they don’t suffer in very similar ways. Taking time to de-stress, avoid situations that feel negative or toxic and giving yourself time to enjoy the small things all count towards keeping your mental health in check.

Spiritual Self Care

Spiritual health and wellbeing involve finding meaning, purpose, and connection in life, which supports mental, emotional, social, and physical health. Spiritual health is not limited to religion; it encompasses a sense of connection to something greater than yourself and a search for greater meaning.

Becoming aligned and in tune with your own spiritual beliefs is tricky when you first start out.

Think about these simple questions to get yourself started:

That last question is possibly the most important. Spirituality is not something that should be forced. It is something which you should want to take part in and enjoy no matter how often you practice.

You can take part in spiritual self-care with others or on your own. Personally, I am a solitary practitioner as this suits my personality and needs the most. If you feel drawn to find others to practice spiritual self care with then do so, each and every person does this in their own unique way and no way is right or wrong.

Spiritual self care may sound tricky to begin with but once you find what your own mind, body and soul connects with then it is easy to find your own personal flow and beliefs. Whether it’s participating in strict Wiccan living and rituals, meeting with a Spiritualist Church once a month or taking part in your own daily rituals and practice. The most important thing is to listen to yourself and what you feel you WANT and NEED to do to keep your spiritual side alive and thriving.

Best of luck on your personal spiritual journey!
